THE Ekiti State governor, Mr Segun Oni, has accused the state Action Congress (AC) governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, of recruiting an agent of the United States (US) Federal Bureau of Intelligence (FBI) to generate fake security reports on Ekiti State .
This, he said, was on the security implications of the likely outcome of the petition filed by Dr Fayemi against the victory of Governor Oni in the April 25, 2009 governorship rerun.
Allegation laughable - Fayemi's aide
But the media aide to Dr Fayemi, Mr Yemi Adaramodu, has debunked the allegation, saying that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government was edgy and, as such, was making “laughable and ridiculous allegations.”
The Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the Governor, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre, in a release made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti, on Sunday, alleged that the FBI agent, whose name was given as Bode Kalejaiye, had already been mobilised with N15 million to begin the assignment.
Kalejaiye’s major brief, according to the release, was to use his position as an FBI agent “to generate security reports that Ekiti State would be on fire should the tribunal judgment go against Fayemi. He is to work in collaboration with two men of the State Security Service (SSS).”
However, Adaramodu, while denying the allegation, said his boss did not need any FBI report to show that the current government in the state had been rejected, adding that the party had presented its case at the tribunal and was awaiting justice.
