The acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has approved the appointment of 19 judges for the National Industrial Court.

The approval by the Acting President was based on the recommendation made to him by the National Judicial Council.

A statement by the NJC’s Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, disclosing this on Tuesday, said the new judges appointed from 19 states of the federation would be sworn-in on Friday

A Nigerian, Fawaz Olanrewaju Animasaun will spend the next two years in jail in the United States for defrauding East Texans and others out of nearly $1m.

Twenty-seven-year-old Animasaun, is one of two persons named in a federal indictment for charges of aggravated identity theft and conspiracy to commit bank fraud, as well as aiding and abetting.

He was travelling to the U.S. from Ghana, by way of Amsterdam, when he was arrested at the airport in New York in November last year.

Just a few weeks later, the 7-foot-1-inch tall Nigerian was an inmate at the Gregg County Jail awaiting his turn in a federal courtroom.

Under a plea agreement finalised in May, Animasaun is serving three years in prison on the conspiracy charge. He is ordered to pay $930,737.60 in restitution to three financial companies.

The first ever gay Muslim wedding has taken place in the UK.

Happy grooms Jahed Choudhury, 24, and Sean Rogan, 19, tied the knot wearing traditional golden Sherwanis in a civil ceremony at Walsall registry office.

The pair, who’ve been together for two years, first met when Choudhury was crying on a bench in Darlaston.

He told Express and Star: ‘I’d not long overdosed and I was crying on a bench and Sean came over and asked if I was okay.

Adding that Sean gave him hope at his lowest point and has stood by him ever since.

Choudhury said that being an openly-gay Muslim made him feel like something of a ‘black sheep’ and that he ‘stood out like a sore thumb’ and often felt trapped between his sexuality and faith

The leadership of the In­digenous people of Biafra (IPOB) says its resolution to boycott the forthcoming Anambra governorship elec­tion slated for November 18, 2017 remains sacrosanct.

In the statement signed by the group’s media and pub­licity secretary, Emma pow­erful, IPOB said the Anambra election boycott would be a sure way of proving to the whole world that Biafrans are determined to be liberated.

“We IPOB maintain that there will be no more elec­tions in Biafraland starting with Anambra State this year”, it said stressing that it has never shifted ground on its stands on the poll.
