Business mogul, Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim, on Thursday, said he joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to build a virile party in the state.

He said he did not join purposely to contest any elective post, saying the task at hand was to ensure that the PDP regained its lost glory in the state.

Ibrahim, who said this in Akure, while meeting with the leadership of the party in the state at the party secretariat, added that he opted for the PDP because it was a national party.

According to him, the PDP was a party he had identified with for a long time, adding that he had also benefited from the good gesture of the party.

He said, life is all about change, the only thing that is constant in this life is change, we don’t have to stay at one place, we have to move to another party and I have chosen the PDP.

“I was given one of the highest honours in the country, Officer of Federal republic (OFR) by the PDP; presently I am the chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) an appointment of the PDP government.

“I can not talk of 2013 now, I have not told anybody whether I am contesting or not, all I am doing now is to ensure that the PDP wins all the elections in 2011”.

The chairman of the party in the state, Dr. Tayo Dairo, said with the likes of Ibrahim joining the PDP, the party was sure of victory in future elections.

He added that efforts were ongoing to ensure that prominent people in the state were brought into the party to rescue power from the ruling Labour Party (LP).
