José Aldo ruins Urijah Faber's dream

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

José Aldo rules

By Mark Billingsley

José Aldo removed Urijah Faber's dreams through his left leg Saturday night, leaving a gaping hole where his hopes of recapturing his World Extreme Cagefighting featherweight title once resided.

Aldo put on a mixed martial arts clinic at Arco Arena, dominating local favorite Faber in front of an announced sellout crowd of 14,144 and the WEC's first pay-per-view audience. The younger and much quicker Brazilian chopped away at Faber's left leg from the opening round until the end of the fifth, and it proved to be the difference as he retained his title with a unanimous decision and sent Faber to an area hospital by ambulance with his left leg splinted and covered in ice.

"Kicks to the leg are always part of my strategy," Aldo said. "But once I started landing them, I kept it up. Every time a fighter has to go to the hospital, it is unfortunate. On one part, I am happy I won. On another, I am sad to see my opponent go to the hospital."

Faber changed to a left-handed stance to lessen his left leg's exposure, but he could not get off any punches with power. He tried several times for a takedown, but Aldo's quickness proved to be too much for Faber.

The fifth and final round was a sad sight as Faber whiffed on several takedown attempts, fell to the mat and basically quit, waiting for referee Herb Dean to restart on their feet. But without strong legs, maneuvering back to his feet proved to be difficult.

Anna Xu of Seattle weeps after the WEC Featherweight tile fight between Urijah Faber and Jos Aldo at Arco Arena on Saturday Xu is a big fan of Faber's and traveled from Seattle for this event. Faber lost the fight by unanimous decision.

Any future title shot for Faber might be remote, as he has lost three of his past five fights to fall to 23-4 overall. Aldo improved to 17-1.

Ben Henderson defended his lightweight belt with an impressive victory over Donald Cerrone by using a guillotine choke at the 1:57 mark of the first round.

The duo fought in 2009 in what was voted as WEC's Fight of the Year. Henderson won that five-rounder in a unanimous, yet controversial decision. But there was no doubt who the better mixed-martial artist was Saturday night. Henderson (12-1) stalked Cerrone, tied him up on the fence, pummeled him with a few knees and then took it to the ground, where his jiujitsu skills were too much for Cerrone (11-3).

Sacramento featherweight Chad "Money" Mendes got the fans on their feet in an early fight by submitting Anthony "Cheesesteak" Morrison with a guillotine choke at 2:13 of the first round. Mendes (7-0) took the fight on two weeks notice. He last fought March 6 in Columbus, Ohio, and beat Erik Koch by unanimous decision.

"I was on my fishing boat and had just popped my first (beer) when my manager called with the offer," Mendes said. "I poured it out and got into the gym the next day."

Featherweight Mike Brown was knocked out by Manny Gamburyan with 2:22 left in the first round. It was the second consecutive loss for Brown (23-6), who took Faber's title belt and then relinquished it to Aldo in November.

Gamburyan (13-5) knocked Brown down with a wicked right hand and pounced on him with three brutal shots before referee Jon Schorle of El Dorado Hills stopped the fight. Brown got up and protested the stoppage until he saw a replay that showed his arms by his sides.

In earlier featherweight bouts, Tyler Toner (11-1) scored a first-round technical knockout over Brandon Visher (13-1), and Leonard Garcia improved to 18-5-1 with a split decision against Chan Sung Jung (10-2).

Jose Aldo Beats Urijah Faber

Jose Aldo wins

Jose Aldo is not a very old fighter in the mixed martial arts event called the “Ultimate Fighting Championship”. He has a good record of 16-1-0 but the way the guy fights is more than explosive. The most disturbing thing about Aldo is his speed. He attacks his opponent with such overwhelming agility that most of them don’t get a chance of hitting back. It seems as if the guy is overflowing with energy.

Recently there was a much hyped fight in the UFC in which Aldo challenged Urijah Faber for his featherweight championship. Urijah is a seasoned fighter with a great record of 23-3-0. He relies on his unpredictability in the fight. He does moves that the opponent doesn’t expect. For instance he usually kicks the opponent while falling. Clearly this kind of a move really throws the opponent off.
Both Aldo and Faber are extremely good fighters and the championship fight was considered to be the best fight in UFC history.

People were expecting a lot from Faber, but Aldo totally overshadowed him from the first round. Faber definitely seems stronger than Aldo and weighs more as well, but Aldo’s speed seemed a little more than what Faber could handle. Aldo came in with the fastest punches, flying knees and roundhouse kicks that anyone has ever seen. Faber didn’t get a chance to dominate Aldo like he used to dominate his other opponents.
Aldo kept on disorienting Faber with his lightning fast kicks and punches throughout the second, third and fourth round. By the end of the fourth round Faber was badly injured and extremely tired. In the fifth round Faber was finally defeated and was looking really torn up. Aldo, on the other hand, didn’t seem the least bit tired and looked absolutely untouched.

Tito Ortiz, a UFC star, arrested for Domestic violence against his girlfriend, Jenna Jameson, a celebrated porn star.

Monday, April 26, 2010

Mixed martial arts fighter and former Ultimate Fighting Championship champion Tito Ortiz has been arrested suspicion of domestic violence after neighbours reported a "disturbance" at the couple's Huntington Beach, California home.

Putting aside assumptions that, when living next door to a porn star and an MMA fighter, disturbances might generally be assumed as the status quo, Ortiz is being held in custody after police found "visible injuries" on Jameson, according to online gossip site TMZ.

Tito Ortiz and his girlfriend, Jenna Jameson
The adult movie star was later spotted leaving a local drug store with a medical brace on her right arm.

Jameson, wearing large sunglasses, told photographers, "I'm gonna be alright," confirming that she will be pressing charges against the fighter as she drove away from the family home with her father.

"My babies are alright... he's in jail," she added through tears.

Ortiz was walked out to a waiting police cruiser wearing red fight shorts and a grey jacket, with his hands cuffed behind his back beneath the top. He was moved to Orange County's Huntington Beach jailhouse.

Lieutenant Mike Reynolds told MMAJunkie.com Huntington Beach PD officers arrested Ortiz nearly two hours after the 9:53 a.m. 911 call that brought them to the scene. The fighter faces felony charges over the incident though charges have yet to be laid.

Ortiz is "cooperating with the investigation" according to Reynolds, though the fighter had earlier denied he was being arrested, even as he was being led away in handcuffs.

UFC President Dana White told TMZ Ortiz will get a fair hearing from his employers but could find himself cut from the fight promotion if he is found guilty of the charges.

The long-time couple are unmarried but have twin 13-month-old boys.

Ortiz was the light heavyweight champion of the UFC for three years, from 2000 to 2003, but fell from the limelight after becoming embroiled in a personality battle with UFC President Dana White, losing his title, and becoming injured. He recently returned to the billion-dollar fight promotion but lost his comeback fight to Forrest Griffin in a split decision, and was then removed as a coach from the current season of Spike TV's The Ultimate Fighter after an undisclosed incident.

The removal of Ortiz from the series saw him withdrawn from UFC 115 at Vancouver's GM Place against former champ Chuck Liddell.

UFC Live: WEC Jose Aldo vs Urijah Faber

Saturday, April 24, 2010

Tonight we have UFC live with Aldo vs Faber. If you want to watch UFC live -  WEC Jose Aldo vs. Urijah Faber keep an eye on us,we will post a streaming link. This coming Saturday, the second sends the MMA organization under the banner Zuffas to step out of the shadows of its big brother, the UFC,: World Extreme Cagefighting debut on the American Pay-Per-View Market. Since the consortium incorporated at the Fertitta brothers in 2006, the WEC and made it a playground for lighter weight, produced one incredibly entertaining fights like an assembly line. The speed and inexhaustible stamina of the smaller guys are guarantors for action-packed fights. Fights like Miguel Torres vs. Yoshiro Maeda (WEC 34) or vs. Ben Henderson. Donald Cerrone (WEC 43) are already classics of the sport. Now Zuffa writes a new chapter in the history of the WEC by trying the PPV market to conquer.

The main fight of the event denied WEC Urijah Faber posterboy and the seemingly unstoppable WEC featherweight champion Jose Aldo. Aldo has secured the gold in last November, when he defeated former champion Mike Brown surprisingly in the second round via TKO. Those Mike Brown, who declined Uriah Faber At the track, when no one believed that the golden boy from California was beat. Since then, it was mixed for Faber. After a victory against the aging Jens Pulver he lost his rematch against Mike Brown also broke his hand during the struggle. After another victory, against Raphael Assuncao, this is now the second chance for Faber to take back his belt. Not an easy task against a man like Aldo. The Brazilian is undefeated in nine fights. Six of those victories he recorded since his arrival in the WEC, none of which went to make ends meet. Aldo was hungry – he is there with a belt as well?

In the second main fight of the evening, a belt is at stake: the lightweight title of the WEC is in the continuation of the classic vs Henderson. Cerrone fought. Henderson is an outstanding wrestler and Grappler, a powerful Standkämpfer Cerrone – the classic MMA match also. The first meeting of the two, in October 2009, Henderson was on points to decide for themselves. Both Fighter will give nothing in this rematch. Even so, because the lightweight class in the WEC will soon be swallowed by the UFC. Logical that you want to send two of the top fighters of the division a clear message to their future competitors.

Another treat is the struggle between the above-mentioned former Featherweight Champion Mike Brown and the “The Ultimate Fighter” series known Manvel “Manny Gamburyan. Gamburyan was in the final of the fifth season of the reality show and won each of his two previously WEC Fights. His opponent, Mike Brown, a talented wrestler and dangerous boxer like his title in November against Jose Aldo indeed have lost, but is nevertheless one of the best feather weight of the world and has the gold not lost sight of.

These three Kracher ought to be sufficient to make the PPV debut of the WEC to a successful, even if the lighter weight classes in the U.S. mainstream has not yet arrived so right. The other fights of the evening can be found in the following survey:
