  • Jennifer McCreight Launches Boobquake to Prove Cleric Wrong

What started as a sarcastic, joke answer to an Iranian cleric has raced around the internet and become a movement.

Blogger Jen McCreight is self- described "liberal, geeky, nerdy, scientific, perverted atheist feminist trapped in Indiana."

She read about an Iranian cleric that blames natural disasters on immodest cleavage.

"Many women who do not dress modestly ... lead young men astray, corrupt their chastity and spread adultery in society, which (consequently) increases earthquakes," Hojatoleslam Kazem Sedighi said."

So McCreight called on women to show as much cleavage as possible on Monday in a "Boobquake" in order to prove Sedighi wrong.

Some DC woman gave up their lunch hour Monday to stage a local "Boobquake."  The women gathered in Dupont Circle to speak out against the cleric.

Members of the media outnumbered those protesters in Dupont Circle. Some international reporters say their stories produced in DC will air in Iran later Monday evening.

McCreight boob's joke spread across the internet on Facebook and Twitter and is being reported by media worldwide.

On her Blag Hag site, McCreight is both explaining herself and having some fun with the way the movement has exploded.

The "Boobquake" Facebook shows over 63,000 attendee and hundreds of thousands of followers.

A search of the #boobquake hashtag on Twitter responds with tweets faster than you can refresh.

People all over the world are wondering if the revealing clothing they see women wearing is part of the "Boobquake" movement or just normal fashion.

No doubt surfers will be looking for and at the Facebook pictures all day.
